Background :
IDEA ( Foundation for Initiatives in Development and Education for All ) was started by a group of social workers and social scientists in 2002, in order to adopt a holistic approach to deal with the problem of school dropout. It also has a base of an in depth research done by one of the Founder member on the topic of School Dropout.
Dr. Usha Pillai – Chair person and Founder Trustee , is a PhD in Social work. She has long experience in Child welfare.In her opinion,” Reason for children dropping out of school is different from one child to another and is often multiple in nature. Hence there is a need for individualised and holistic approach to deal with this issue”.
